Mileage and expense trackers: Stride, MileIQ, Everlance

These apps are built for taxes, and they are good at taxes. Automatic drive detection, deduction totals, IRS-ready mileage reports. If one of them is saving you money in April, keep it.

But a deactivation email does not ask for your quarterly mile total. It asks what happened at one address at 6:42 PM. A tax report cannot show the stop, the photo at the door, the receipt from the same hour, or the note you made when the gate was locked. Mileage apps summarize the month. Disputes are decided on the minute.

Earnings trackers: Solo, Gridwise

Earnings apps answer "was today worth it" — pay per hour, demand, tips, which platform paid best. Useful for choosing where to work. None of that is evidence. When support asks a driver to prove a delivery happened the way the driver says it happened, an earnings dashboard has nothing to submit.

Dashcams

A dashcam protects you on the road — accidents, insurance, police stops. It is blind to the rest of the job: it does not record your stops, your drop-off photos, your fuel receipts, or your timeline, and most cams overwrite their own footage within days. You cannot email a windshield to an appeals team. MoveDefense is built to be that camera for the account itself: always recording the workday, and able to print what it saw.

Camera roll, screenshots, and spreadsheets

This is what most drivers actually rely on: delivery photos buried between family pictures, screenshots of the app, maybe a spreadsheet updated at night. When the account review comes, the photo has no stop attached to it, the screenshot has no location, and the spreadsheet was written after the fact — which is exactly what a platform will say about it. Scattered records read like memory. Organized records read like proof.
